Description

British Victorian Rifle Officers Sword Presentation 5th Carmarthenshire Vol 1866. The blade is 32 1/2 in length. The blade is etched on one side with Presented to Captn WH Nevill by the members of his company the Fifth Carmarthenshire Rifle Volunteers as a slight token of regard & esteem May 1866. The other side has the usual etching with a victorian crown and the strung rifles bugle below the VR. The maker is E Woods and Son Bow St London. The blade shows the usual age signs but is still clearly legible and great for display. The scabbard I assume is special order because of the non standard throat drag and rings area. The guard has the usual strung bugle  witj excellent sharkskin grip and wiring to the handle. The sword knot has seen better days with just the end silver tassle being present and rest just cord. Nice presentation sword
