British Victorian 9th Royal Lancers Other Ranks Helmet Tschapka The leather body has typical crazing for the period of the helmet. The two tone plume is complete and shows well. The chin strap is missing the leather on it as you would expect for something of this era. The helmet plate is specific to the 9th Royal Lancers. It has a regimental button below the plume. The inside has a faint war department stamp on the very top of the crown. The cotton liner has some use and abuse to it along with some period repairs. Underneather the cotton liner and not pictured is the following information: 2869 9L 93. I assume the 93 is 1893 and the 2869 is probably the regimental number for the person who wore this helmet. 9L is obviously 9th Lancers. Great helmet in hard to get condition.
