British Victorian 17th Lancers Senior NCO Helmet Tschapka, The leather body has typical crazing for the period of the helmet. The plume is complete and shows well. The chin strap has the original leather on it and really sets the helmet off for display. The helmet plate is specific to the 17th Lancers before they became the death or glory boys of the 17/21st lancers in 1922. Regimental button below the plume. The only damage I can find to this is the mortar board has a small tear in it and though this could be repaired easily but I will not do it. The inside has the remanents of a paper label with the size 6 7/8 and a war department stamp of 1898 on it at the very top of the crown. Great helmet in hard to get condition.
