The WW2 Russian Soviet Medal For the Victory Over Germany Full Size is a military decoration awarded to Soviet service personnel who participated in the defeat of Nazi Germany during the Great Patriotic War (1941–1945). Instituted on May 9, 1945, this circular brass medal features a relief portrait of Joseph Stalin on the obverse, encircled by an inscription in Russian translating to “Our Cause is Just – We Won.” The reverse bears the inscription “For Victory Over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945” along with a five-pointed star. The medal is suspended from a pentagonal mount, with a ribbon displaying the black and orange stripes of the Order of Glory (St. George’s ribbon). Approximately 14 million of these medals were awarded, making it one of the most widely issued Soviet campaign medals. It remains a significant artifact representing Allied victory on the Eastern Front in World War II.
