This pair of WW2 Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps Majors Tropical Slip-Ons features rank insignia used during the Second World War. Designed to be worn on the epaulettes of tropical uniform shirts, these slip-ons are constructed from khaki-colored fabric suitable for warmer climates. Each slip-on displays the insignia for a Major: a pair of gold-embroidered crowns and pips specific to British Commonwealth rank structure. The edges are neatly stitched, and the insignia is securely affixed. These rank slides were used for ease of attachment and removal while in the field, providing clear identification of rank and corps while allowing uniforms to remain comfortable in humid or hot conditions. Items such as these were standard-issue for officers in the Medical Corps, who were responsible for providing care and support to soldiers throughout various theaters of operation. This set exemplifies Canadian military insignia from the tropical deployments of the 1939–1945 period.
