The WW2 German War Merit Cross 2nd Class With Swords No Maker Full Size Medal is a military decoration issued during the Second World War by Nazi Germany. Established on 18 October 1939, the War Merit Cross was awarded to military and civilian personnel for exceptional service not directly involving combat. The version with swords, such as this example, was specifically presented to individuals who performed acts of merit under combat conditions but not necessarily involving battlefield valor. This full-size medal is constructed from zinc or bronze alloy and measures approximately 48mm in width. The cross features a Maltese design with a central swastika on the obverse and crossed swords positioned between the cross’s arms, denoting merit in a combat-related capacity. The reverse is plain. As indicated by “No Maker,” this specimen does not display a manufacturer’s mark, which is typical of some late-war issues. The medal is typically accompanied by a red, white, and black ribbon.
