The WW2 German Mothers Cross in Silver, full size, was a state decoration awarded by the Third Reich to honor women for exceptional merit to the German nation through motherhood. Officially known as the Cross of Honour of the German Mother (Ehrenkreuz der Deutschen Mutter), the silver grade was presented to mothers with six or seven eligible children. The decoration consists of a white-enameled cross with blue borders, featuring a central medallion bearing a black swastika and the inscription “Der Deutschen Mutter.” The full-size version measures approximately 40mm by 45mm and is suspended from a blue and white striped ribbon. Instituted by Adolf Hitler on December 16, 1938, the award was given annually on Mother’s Day during the Nazi era. The Mothers Cross remains a recognizable artifact from the period, reflecting the regime’s emphasis on family policies and population growth.
