The WW2 German Mothers Cross in Silver, Full Size, is an official medal awarded during the period of the Third Reich. Instituted by Adolf Hitler on 16 December 1938, the Cross of Honour of the German Mother (Ehrenkreuz der Deutschen Mutter) was presented to mothers in recognition of substantial contributions to the German population via childbirth. The silver version represents the second class, which was typically awarded to mothers with six or seven children. The decoration consists of a blue and white enameled Maltese cross with a central medallion featuring a black swastika and the inscription “Der Deutschen Mutter” (To the German Mother). The cross is suspended from a blue and white ribbon and measures approximately 45mm in height. This award is a significant historical artifact reflecting social policies and awards systems in Nazi Germany during the Second World War era. It has relevance to both military and social history collectors.
