The WW2 Canadian Women’s Army Corps (CWAC) “CANADA” Shoulder Titles Insignia Pair consists of two matching cloth titles historically worn by members of the CWAC during the Second World War. Established in 1941, the Canadian Women’s Army Corps allowed women to serve in a variety of non-combat roles within the Canadian Army. The shoulder titles are constructed from khaki or dark green wool or fabric with “CANADA” embroidered in contrasting thread, typically arranged in an arc. These insignia were sewn onto the upper sleeves of the service dress uniform to clearly identify the wearer’s national affiliation. The use of such titles helped distinguish CWAC personnel from other units and organizations. These items represent the contribution of women to Canada’s military efforts during the Second World War and are of interest to collectors of military uniforms and insignia as historical artifacts from this period.
