The WW2 Canadian Volunteer Service Medal Full Size is an official Second World War campaign medal awarded to members of the Canadian forces. Established in 1943, it recognized voluntary service in the military or merchant navy from 3 September 1939 to 1 March 1947. Eligibility required a minimum of 18 months of voluntary service, exclusive of any period of compulsory duty under the National Resources Mobilization Act. The medal is circular and struck in .925 sterling silver, measuring approximately 36 mm in diameter. The obverse features a crowned figure representing Victory, standing on a plinth with a laurel wreath below, while the reverse displays the inscription “1939 CANADA 1945 VOLUNTARY SERVICE VOLONTAIRE.” The medal is suspended from a ribbon with a central band of royal blue flanked by red, with dark green bands on either edge, symbolizing the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
