The 1939 to 1945 Star is a campaign medal authorized for issue to Commonwealth forces who served during the Second World War. This full size example is specific to Canadian service personnel and is presented in a box. The bronze six-pointed star features the crowned cypher of King George VI in the center, surrounded by a circlet bearing the inscription “The 1939–1945 Star.” The reverse is plain. The medal is suspended from a ribbon with equal stripes of dark blue, red, and light blue, representing the Royal Navy, Army, and Royal Air Force respectively. Eligibility for the 1939-1945 Star required six months of operational service between 3 September 1939 and 2 September 1945. This medal was awarded to recognize service in all operational commands during the entirety of the Second World War. This item offers an authentic example of the awards issued to Canadian military members during the conflict.
