This WW2 Canadian RCAF Sterling Silver Lapel Badge is an original piece issued to members of the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War. The badge is crafted from sterling silver and typically features the winged RCAF emblem, often with the addition of a crown and “RCAF” lettering beneath. Measuring approximately 18–22 mm in width, it was designed for wear on civilian clothing to identify the wearer’s affiliation with the RCAF while off-duty or during non-uniform occasions. Such badges were commonly awarded to both serving personnel and veterans as a mark of their service. The reverse is usually stamped “Sterling” along with a maker’s mark, and it fastens with a straightforward pin mechanism. These lapel badges are collectible artifacts reflecting the contributions of the RCAF within the broader context of Canada’s involvement in the Allied war effort during World War II.
