The WW2 Canadian Calgary Highlanders Cap Badge is a military insignia issued to members of the Calgary Highlanders regiment during the Second World War. The badge features a stag’s head cabossed, the traditional emblem of the regiment, above a scroll inscribed with “Calgary Highlanders.” Manufactured in brass or white metal, the badge measures approximately 4.5 cm in height. Attachment lugs are present on the reverse for fastening to the regimental headdress, typically the Balmoral or Tam o’ Shanter. The Calgary Highlanders were an infantry regiment of the Canadian Army, initially part of the Non-Permanent Active Militia before being mobilized for active service in 1939. The regiment served in several key campaigns in Europe, including France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Cap badges like this example were worn by all ranks for identification and to foster unit pride. The design reflects the regiment’s Scottish heritage and continues to be associated with its historical legacy.
