The WW2 Canadian Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Canvas Shoulder Title Insignia is an original uniform insignia issued to members of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada during the Second World War. This unit, part of the Canadian Army, was active in various theaters of operation, including Europe, and is recognized for its distinctive Scottish heritage. The insignia is constructed from khaki canvas, with the regimental name “ARGYLL & SUTHERLAND HIGHLANDERS” machine-embroidered in red thread. Designed to be worn on the upper sleeve of battledress uniforms, the shoulder title identified the wearer’s regiment and reflected unit pride and affiliation. Insignia of this type were standard issue to Canadian infantry regiments throughout the war. The single example offered here provides insight into Canadian military uniforms and organizational structure during WW2. Condition, stitching patterns, and material are consistent with wartime manufacture and use by Canadian service personnel.
