The reverse side is fitted with two lugs for attachment to the collar of the officer’s uniform. These insignia were worn in pairs, one on each collar, as part of the standard service dress, distinguishing Intelligence Corps officers from other corps or regiments. The British Intelligence Corps was responsible for military intelligence, counterintelligence, and security operations during WWII, and its insignia are considered significant identifiers of Allied intelligence personnel of the era.
