WW1 Imperial German Kyffhauser Union War Commemorative Medal

The WW1 Imperial German Kyffhauser Union War Commemorative Medal was instituted in 1921 by the Kyffhäuserbund, the association for German war veterans. This bronze medal was awarded to honor military personnel and civilians who served in any combatant capacity for the German Empire during the First World War from 1914 to 1918. The obverse features the heads of German Emperor Wilhelm I and King Frederick William III, with “1914–18” inscribed below. The reverse displays the Kyffhäuser monument beneath the inscription “Für Treue im Weltkrieg” (“For Loyalty in the World War”) and is surrounded by an oak leaf wreath. The medal is suspended from a black and white striped ribbon, representing the national colors of the German Empire.
