This set comprises an original World War I Canadian Royal Flying Corps (RFC) pilot’s helmet, accompanied by flight gloves and related documents associated with a member of the 25th Battalion. The helmet is constructed from leather, with visible patina and period-appropriate stitching, reflecting early aviation protective headgear standards. The accompanying flight gloves are fabricated from soft, durable leather, designed to provide grip and insulation during flight. Included documents pertain to the RFC service of the Canadian pilot, with references to the 25th Battalion, offering insight into individual military history and service record. Such sets were issued to personnel engaged in aerial operations during WW1 for both protection and identification. The RFC was a prominent air arm of the British Empire’s military, with Canadian pilots playing a significant role. This grouping presents original artifacts representative of early military aviation history and the Canadian contribution to the First World War air services.
