The WW1 Canadian CEF For King and Empire Services Rendered Pin is an official badge awarded to members of the Canadian Expeditionary Force who were honorably discharged due to wounds or sickness during the First World War. Commonly referred to as the “Silver War Badge,” this circular pin features the crowned cypher of King George V at the center, with the inscription “For King and Empire Services Rendered” around the edge. Each pin was individually numbered on the reverse to correspond with its recipient. Issued between 1916 and 1919, the badge served as visible recognition of service and sacrifice, distinguishing returning servicemen from civilians and those not eligible for military duty. The pin was authorized by the British War Office and adapted for Dominion forces, including Canada. Constructed from silver or silvered metal, the badge measures approximately 32 mm in diameter and retains historical significance as an artifact of Canadian military service in the Great War.
