US USMC Rifle Sharpshooter Medal Full Size Sterling

The US USMC Rifle Sharpshooter Medal Full Size Sterling is an official United States Marine Corps marksmanship award. Issued to Marines who qualify at the sharpshooter level during rifle marksmanship training, this full-size medal is crafted in sterling silver and features the distinct rectangular design with crossed rifles, a suspension bar, and an attachment indicating “Rifle Sharpshooter.” First introduced in 1912 and updated in subsequent years, this medal represents the intermediate tier of Marine Corps marksmanship badges, ranking above Marksman and below Expert. The full-size sterling version was awarded prior to the widespread adoption of less expensive materials. Measuring approximately 1.5 inches in width, the medal typically retains hallmarks denoting its sterling silver composition. Items like this are often collected for their historical connection to 20th-century USMC training programs and as part of broader military qualifications and awards. This example represents the standard issue for personnel meeting specific marksmanship proficiency standards with service rifles.
