Royal Canadian Mounted Police RCMP Long Service Medal Ribbon Bar

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Long Service Medal Ribbon Bar is an official insignia awarded to members of the RCMP in recognition of their extended service and good conduct. Instituted in 1934, the Long Service Medal is the oldest continually awarded federal service medal in Canada. The ribbon bar is worn on uniform attire and represents the actual medal when the latter is not displayed. It features a distinctive blue background with stripes of gold, symbolizing the colors of the full-sized decoration. The ribbon bar is rectangular, typically measuring approximately 32 mm in width and 10 mm in height, and includes a metal backing for attachment. This item is of interest to collectors of Canadian military and police memorabilia, reflecting the history and tradition of service within the RCMP. It provides context to the recognition of long-term commitment and professionalism within Canadian law enforcement agencies.
