The Canadian Forces 82 Pattern Webbing Set is a standard-issue load-carrying equipment system introduced by the Canadian military in the early 1980s. Designed to replace the earlier 64 Pattern webbing, the 82 Pattern set consists of a series of olive green nylon pouches, a belt, and yoke harness, facilitating the distribution of weight across the wearer’s body. Typical components include magazine pouches, canteen holders, utility pouches, and a field pack, all designed to be modular and easily accessible. The system was developed for field use, offering improved durability and water resistance compared to previous canvas models. The 82 Pattern Webbing Set remained in service through the 1990s and early 2000s, seeing use in both domestic and overseas operations, before being phased out by newer systems such as the Canadian Forces’ CADPAT-based gear. This set represents a key period in Canadian military equipment development during the late 20th century.
