The Canadian Airborne Regiment OD Green Combat Tab is an insignia that was worn by qualified members of the Canadian Airborne Regiment. Introduced in the 1970s, the tab is designed in an olive drab (OD) green color with “AIRBORNE” embroidered in bold lettering. It typically measures approximately 7.5 cm by 2.5 cm and is curved to be worn above the regimental or unit patch on the left shoulder of the uniform. The combat tab signifies successful completion of airborne training and assignment to the regiment, which served as Canada’s primary parachute infantry formation until its disbandment in 1995. These tabs were manufactured in both subdued (OD) and colored versions to correspond with uniform requirements and operational environments. The OD green variant was primarily issued for field use on combat uniforms to enhance camouflage in operational settings. The Canadian Airborne Regiment insignia remains a notable artifact in Canadian military history.
