WW2 US USAAF Survival Life Raft Fishing Kit

The WW2 US USAAF Survival Life Raft Fishing Kit is an original equipment item issued to United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) personnel during World War II. Designed as part of the standard survival gear for aircrew members, this compact kit was intended for use in emergency situations involving water landings or prolonged periods stranded at sea. The kit typically includes fishing lines, hooks, sinkers, and sometimes artificial lures, all housed in a waterproof or water-resistant container to ensure functionality in harsh environments. Its purpose was to provide downed airmen with the means to procure food while awaiting rescue. These kits were manufactured according to military specifications and distributed in both single- and multi-person life rafts. The presence and condition of markings, contents, and original packaging can vary based on production batches and field use. This fishing kit represents an important aspect of wartime survival equipment utilized by USAAF crews.
