The WW1 British War Medal Miniature is a reduced-scale version of the British War Medal awarded to military personnel for service during the First World War. The full-size medal was instituted in 1919 and presented to members of the British and Imperial forces who served between 5 August 1914 and 11 November 1918. The miniature medal typically measures 18mm in diameter and is struck in silver. It features the effigy of King George V on the obverse, while the reverse bears the depiction of Saint George on horseback trampling symbols of war. The medal is suspended from a ribbon with a central orange stripe, flanked by narrow white and black lines and broader blue margins. Miniature medals such as this were commonly worn on mess dress or during less formal occasions in place of full-size awards. This item serves as a representation of official military recognition during the First World War.
