The Air Crew Europe Star is a British campaign medal instituted during the Second World War. This miniature medal is a replica of the original decoration, awarded to Royal Air Force aircrew who participated in operational flights over Europe from 3 September 1939 to 5 June 1944. The medal features a six-pointed star with the royal cypher “GRVI” in the center and “The Air Crew Europe Star” inscribed around it. Attached to the ribbon is the France and Germany Bar, indicating subsequent operational service over France, Belgium, the Netherlands, or Germany between 6 June 1944 and 8 May 1945. Miniature medals were commonly worn on mess dress uniforms or for formal occasions. The accompanying ribbon is light blue edged with black and yellow vertical stripes, symbolizing the sky and night operations. This item is of interest to military collectors, historians, and individuals researching British military decorations from the Second World War.
