The Canadian 48th Highlanders of Canada Snare Drum with Drum Sticks is a percussion instrument historically associated with one of Canada’s prominent infantry regiments. The 48th Highlanders, established in 1891 and based in Toronto, are known for their traditions rooted in Scottish military heritage, often reflected in their regimental band’s equipment. This snare drum typically features regimental insignia, decorative elements in red, blue, or white, and durable tension rods framing a wooden shell. Accompanied by a pair of drum sticks, this set represents the style used during ceremonial parades, official functions, and regimental events. The drum’s design supports both visual display and functional use, as it was created for marching and performance within band formations. Items such as this are of interest for collecting due to their connections with regimental history and Canadian military music traditions. Condition, provenance, and markings may vary depending on period of use and individual drum.
