US American Airlines Junior Pilots Wings Metal

The US American Airlines Junior Pilots Wings Metal is a pin badge historically issued to young passengers of American Airlines, typically as a souvenir during flights. The design features a pair of spread wings with a circular medallion at the center, which often displays the American Airlines insignia. Constructed from metal, these wings are crafted to be durable yet lightweight, and they usually measure approximately 2 to 2.5 inches across. The badge is equipped with a pin or clasp fastener on the reverse for easy attachment to clothing. First introduced in the mid-20th century, junior pilot wings symbolize encouragement of youth aviation interest and the memorable experience of flying. While not a military insignia, these wings represent a tradition practiced by many airlines and are a notable example of aviation memorabilia. They are often collected for their historical connection to commercial airline travel and youth engagement in aviation.
