WW1 British BEF Fox Putties

The WW1 British BEF Fox Putties are standard-issue leg wraps used by British Expeditionary Force soldiers during the First World War. Manufactured by Fox Brothers & Co., these puttees are made of tightly woven wool and are designed to provide lower leg protection and support in the field. Each puttee measures approximately 9 feet in length and 3 inches in width, allowing for a secure and adjustable fit around the shins and ankles. The wool material offers insulation against cold and damp conditions, while also helping to prevent debris from entering the boots. Fox puttees are typically khaki in color, in keeping with British military uniform standards of the period. They are secured by a fabric tape or cloth tie at the top.
