Canadian Forces FN C1 Rubber Condom

The Canadian Forces FN C1 Rubber Condom is a protective accessory designed for use with the FN C1 rifle, which served as the standard-issue battle rifle for the Canadian military from the 1950s into the late 1980s. This rubber cover was specifically intended to shield the rifle’s muzzle and front sight from moisture, dust, and debris during storage and transport, helping to maintain operational reliability in adverse conditions. Molded from durable, flexible rubber, it fits snugly over the end of the barrel without interfering with the weapon’s function. The condom is characterized by its simple tubular shape and is typically black or dark grey in color. Such accessories formed part of the standard maintenance kit issued to Canadian soldiers to ensure their equipment remained serviceable in the field. Today, these rubber condoms are collected as examples of Cold War-era military equipment and are of interest to militaria enthusiasts and historians.
