The WW1 Canadian CEF 127th Battalion Cap Badge is an original insignia issued to members of the 127th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War. Formed in late 1915 and primarily recruiting from York Region, Ontario, the 127th Battalion became known as the “12th York Rangers.” The badge is constructed of brass and features a maple leaf design, central numerals “127,” and the battalion’s title. Above the central design is the crown, symbolizing service to the British Crown. The reverse side commonly displays two lug fasteners for attachment to the regimental cap. The 127th Battalion served both in Canada and overseas, including conversion into a railway battalion in 1917 to support allied logistics in Europe. Cap badges such as this serve as tangible records of unit identity within the CEF and reflect the structure and heritage of the Canadian forces during World War I.
