The WW2 Canadian Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa Balmoral TOS (Tam O’Shanter) is a traditional military headdress worn by members of this distinguished Canadian regiment during the Second World War. This example is sized 6 7/8 and follows the standard pattern used throughout the conflict. Constructed of khaki wool serge, the cap features a broad, flat crown and stitched cotton headband. Characteristic features include the toorie—a small woolen pompom—stitched at the center of the crown, and a sewn eyelet ventilation system. The interior is lined for comfort and durability. Regimental badges or insignia, not included with this item, would typically be attached to the front. The Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa were an active infantry regiment engaged in domestic and overseas service during WW2. A Balmoral like this would have formed part of the uniform for parade, garrison, and field use by Canadian military personnel attached to this unit.
