This World War I U.S. Army AEF Special Services Sergeant’s Medic Tunic is an original uniform component from the 1917–1918 period. The tunic is constructed of olive drab wool and features the distinctive red cross medic insignia on the left sleeve, which identifies the wearer as a member of the medical personnel attached to the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) in France. Sergeant chevrons are present on both sleeves, and the tunic retains original brass U.S. and Medical corps collar discs. Included with the tunic is the original dog tag assigned to the sergeant, providing direct personal identification. Accompanying the set is a packet of research documents, which detail the service history and background of the original owner, adding provenance and historical context. This ensemble represents the standard issue and insignia worn by non-commissioned medical staff responsible for frontline and support roles in the AEF during World War I.
