The Italy Star is a British Commonwealth campaign medal awarded for operational service during the Second World War. This full-size medal, as issued to Canadian military personnel, recognizes service in the Italian Campaign from 11 June 1943 to 8 May 1945. The medal is a six-pointed star made of yellow copper zinc alloy, featuring the Royal Cypher “GRI VI” and a circlet inscribed with “The Italy Star.” It is suspended from a ribbon with equal stripes of red, white, green, with red in the center, representing the national colors of Italy. Recipients qualified by serving in operations in Sicily or Italy, as well as adjacent areas covered by the Italian campaign.
