The WW2 Canadian Army 2nd Corps Canvas Shoulder Title Insignia Single is an original cloth formation badge issued during the Second World War. This rectangular insignia features the text “2 CANADIAN CORPS” or similar variation, embroidered or printed onto khaki or olive green canvas. Designed to be worn on the upper arm of the battledress uniform, the shoulder title identified the wearer as a member of the 2nd Canadian Corps, a major formation of the Canadian Army that operated in the European Theatre between 1943 and 1945. The 2nd Corps played a significant role in campaigns such as the Normandy landings, the liberation of the Netherlands, and operations in France, Belgium, and Germany. Shoulder titles such as this example were standard issue for Canadian soldiers and were attached either by stitching or, less commonly, by being slid onto a strap. This item represents both the organizational structure and the operational history of the Canadian forces in the Second World War.
