The France and Germany Star is a campaign medal instituted by the United Kingdom in May 1945 to recognize military service during World War II. This full size medal was awarded to Canadian and Allied forces who served operationally in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, or Germany between 6 June 1944 and 8 May 1945. The medal is a six-pointed star made of yellow copper zinc alloy, measuring approximately 44mm in height and 38mm in width. The obverse features the Royal Cypher “GR VI” surmounted by a crown and encircled by the inscription “The France and Germany Star.” The reverse is plain. This item comes with the official ribbon, which has equal stripes of blue, white, and red symbolizing the national colors of the United Kingdom, France, and the Netherlands.
