The WW2 Canadian RCAF Pilots Wing Brevet is an authentic military insignia awarded to qualified pilots serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War. This wing badge, known as a “brevet,” features a detailed representation of a single outstretched wing with a laurel wreath encircling the letters “RCAF,” and a king’s crown above, signifying service under the Commonwealth during the reign of King George VI. Typically made of embroidered silk or cotton thread on a felt or wool background, the badge was sewn above the left breast pocket of the service dress uniform. Issued upon completion of pilot training, the brevet is an important example of wartime Canadian military insignia. These badges serve as historical artifacts, reflecting both the achievements of their recipients and the heritage of the Canadian air services during the 1939–1945 conflict.
