The WW2 German Waffen SS Wehrmacht Heer KRIM Shield is a military decoration issued during World War II to members of the German armed forces who participated in the campaign on the Crimean Peninsula between September 1941 and July 1942. Authorized by Field Marshal Erich von Manstein in 1942, the shield was awarded to personnel of the Wehrmacht, Waffen-SS, Kriegsmarine, and Luftwaffe. The design features an eagle clutching a swastika above a map of Crimea, with the year dates “1941” and “1942” displayed on either side. The shield was typically affixed to the upper left sleeve of the uniform. The KRIM Shield recognizes service in combat as well as support roles within the operational area. Over 250,000 awards were issued during the war. This item represents a significant campaign award reflecting the extensive military operations conducted by German forces on the Eastern Front.
